📆 Days of the Week
The big insight: Vietnamese days are just Thứ (tuh — ordinal marker) + a number.
Monday = Thứ Hai (2nd) · Tuesday = Thứ Ba (3rd) · Wednesday = Thứ Tư (4th) · and so on.
Exception: Sunday = Chủ Nhật (choo nyut — Lord's Day) — the only irregular day.

💡 Memory trick: The week starts on Monday = Thứ Hai (two). Count up from there — Thứ Ba (3), Thứ Tư (4)... and you'll never forget a day again.

Even simpler than days: Months are just Tháng (tahng — month) + a number.
January = Tháng Một (Month 1) · February = Tháng Hai (Month 2) · and so on to December = Tháng Mười Hai (Month 12).

💡 One exception: April uses Tư (tuh — not Bốn) for the number 4. This same rule applies in telling time — 4 o'clock is "4 giờ" but the 4th month is "Tháng Tư."
🕐 How Time Works
Pattern: number + giờ (yuh — hour) + minutes + time-of-day word

sáng (sahng) = morning · trưa (chuh-ah) = noon · chiều (chyew) = afternoon · tối (toy) = evening · đêm (dem) = late night

Midnight 12 giờ đêmmuh-ee hi yuh demđêm = late night
💡 rưỡi (ruh-ee) means "half" — so "3 giờ rưỡi" = 3 and a half hours = 3:30. Very commonly used, memorize this one first.

Pattern: ngày (ngay — day) + number + tháng (tahng — month) + number + năm (num — year) + number

December 31, 2024 = ngày 31 tháng 12 năm 2024
💡 Vietnamese dates go day → month → year — the opposite of American English (month/day/year), but the same as most of the world.
